Per the spreadsheet (all times CST)
7 Central Michigan (-1) over 2 Ball State
The Chips have been hot and handled EMU handily in their opener a couple days ago. You can't say the same about Ball State, who limped in to the number 2 seed losing their last 3 games including their home finale against the Eagles.
6 Kent State (-1.5) over 3 Buffalo
The Golden Flashes have been on a tear through the MAC, while the Buffalo Bulls are just a shell of their former selves losing 5 out of their last 7 games. Kent gets Chris Singletary back from suspension and have a momentum that the Bulls just can't match at this point in the season. In fact Kent State just beat Buffalo a week ago in OT and I don't see any reason why they can't do it again.
1 Bowling Green (-2) over 9 Ohio
BG flat-out embarrassed Ohio 75-41 last Sunday, so the Bobcats will be looking for some revenge in this game. The Falcons rightfully earned the #1 seed in this tourney and should beat the Bobcats in a game closer than some might think.
5 Akron (+2) over 4 Miami
Out of any of my picks, this one is mostly a gut-feeling. Akron has to be energized after their huge win over Toledo in the first round. I just can't see Miami being able to stack up against the physical presence of the Akron players.
Hmm. 3 out of 4 are upsets. I could be a genius or my super secret formula could be horribly wrong. Only time will tell in this wacky MAC.
I think the seedings are wrong if vegas is telling me that CMU and Kent St are favorites in their games. Pretty unbelievable. Technically my only upset pick is the Akron over the Redhawks of Miami OH.
