A Win the Hard Way
This NIU team showed some real heart in the late stages of the fourth quarter. That last offensive drive with under five minutes to go was pretty impressive.....great athletic catches by our receivers and Harnish really showed something when it counted. We needed that two point conversion and the skill players made it happen.
The defense did bend, but they didn't break when it counted. That interception in the red zone was huge.
Our receiving corp is really stepping up when it counts.......Willie Clark, Martel Moore and Nathan Palmer all contributed. That has to put pressure on any defense when you have several guys who can go up and get the ball. And the balance we have offensively with the running game (Spann is the man) makes it even more difficult for the opposition.
Now it's time to get ready for the battle with Toledo. I see where they have a new QB, Terrance Owens, who came into today's game and put up some strong numbers.
I really like the chemistry on this Huskie team, and the fact that we rotate players to keep them fresh.
Let's pack the stadium on Nov 9th and create some noise and excitement. This team deserves it!!

Agreed
Big win by the Huskies. WMU was one of the better opponents we have faced this year, better than Minnesota for sure. The offensive drive was impressive, especially seeing we did it PASSING, which is normally unheard of for NIU. We we so used to blowing out our opponents that perhaps this game will help our guys focus better. Harnish, as usual, was outstanding, and showed leadership and poise.
We have to watch the dumb penalties, and we have to cover the pass better, although the safeties did do a great job in the 4th quarter.
I’m sure we will be up for Turdledo, as that game will essentially determine who goes to the championship.
Sxith best winning streak in the FBS
The only FBS teams with longer winning streaks than NIU are the five unbeatens.
We need to fill the stands!
And don’t forget it’s a blackout. I’m actually going to this game and its my first this year. cant wait!
Then the students better get their asses to the stadium
because you can’t expect much help from alumni when espn forces you into a 6pm start on a Tuesday. I’m not even home by 6 o’clock.
Anyway, at least they’re putting the game on espn2. I fully expected to have to use the search function on my dvr to find espnu.
