It needs to be obvious to the Huskie Nation that like most things college football is all about money. Plain and simple the money has to come from us. The question is how much are we willing to put up to keep our current level of competitiveness let alone improve.
Here are some of the options we have...
Increase the NIU exposure from Alums and fans. Lets help build a regional power house. Buy a NIU sweat shirt or t-shirt and ware it when ever you can. Get those NIU license plates, some money goes to the school and you get cool plates. Seriously this little stuff helps so get the branding of the NIU name and logo out there.
Increase our donations to Athletics and be willing to pay more for single game and season tickets. BSU fans pay almost five times what NIU fans pay on the west side for comparable seats and that does not include a required donation of over three times the current HASF donation for chair back seats. Check out the link. http://www.broncosports.com/pics31/1024/QE/QEWIOGVNOTSTALK.20100910204918.jpg?DB_OEM_ID=9900 On top of that they still have people donating additional funds to the program. Are you willing to put up that much for a chance at the Huskies to be in the BCS buster conversation?
Whore ourselves out to the Rockford and Chicago market. Everything must be done to sell out every game, even if it is against the worse FCS school. It is a shame we have almost 8 million people within two hours drive and can not fill the stadium every game.
Finally the students must take this time here and now to fully embrace the team and support them in any way possible. Wear your NIU swag, make a road trip and go to an away game and always go to the home games. I know that it is hard to fill the stadium on a week night with classes and work, but every Saturday game the east stands should be filled 90%. As much as I hate to say it... It even helps if you just show up for a quarter or two. Your attendance is what counts as far as the numbers go.
"Forward TOGETHER Forward"
GO HUSKIES
PS NIU has 2000 tickets to sell for the HB. If these tickets are not sold out it will hurt our bowl chances further down the line. If you can spare $25 please purchase a ticket from the NIU site and donate it through NIU and they will get it to the local Air Force base.
