Six more scholarship players exit the NIU football program

It's a well-known fact that defensive end and resident badass Jake Coffman will be retiring after his junior year in eligibility.  He's a military guy and is older, so that's fine.  He exceeded expectations and became a fan favorite the past two years.  More on him later.  Fourth year junior James Jefferies also announced that he was going to hang it up before the season ended.

With the new spring roster released, there were quite a few names of players missing that had at least one year of eligibility left in the Huskie program.  There was much speculation that a few of these players had already made up their mind to leave the program; their reasons ranging anywhere from injuries to just falling behind the depth chart.

If you're a 4th year junior and aren't going to see the field in your 5th year, then it makes a good amount of sense for these guys to to make way for the huge freshman (while plugging in sophomore and juniors) class that we are bringing in.  I'm actually surprised the majority of these guys lasted this long, considering all of them (except Walker) were recruited by Coach Novak.

DB John Kremer - Played in all 13 games on special teams.  Had 6 tackles (5 solo), but I only remember his punt return turnover vs. EMU and a dumb holding or block in the back call earlier in the year when Tommy Davis had a huge run back.
