Patton's Job security
I personally think Patton should lose his job after this pathetic basketball season and was just wondering what everyone else was thinking. I especially was wondering if any one read the article in the Northern Star today which took up the front and back pages of the paper reporting on how bad his recruiting is. The article left me just sitting there like wow this guy needs to go. Sorry i could not find a link for those who have not read the article maybe someone else could help there but any thoughts?

Dumb to fire him now
For a few reasons, but the main one is the fact we can’t afford it, so the other reasons don’t even really matter.
But if you did need more reasons, we will have a senior heavy team coming back next year, with a new coach we’d have no chance. There’d be no way to implement a completely new system with such a senior heavy roster. Might as well ride it out.
At this point, you ride the horse you came in on, 2010 – 11 is NIU’s best chance at being good for a while, and you completely lose what small chance we have, with a new coach coming in and changing everything.

true
that is true but after next year he will need to be gone because he has not brought in any recruits and looking at his recruiting technique he is not gonna bring any in ever

It's championship or bust next year
There’s no getting around that. I think.
Red and Black Attack - Northern Illinois Pride
no way out
Its clear he’s not getting the job done and there is no sign that improvement is forthcoming. Problem is he has 2 years left on his contract and NIU isn’t made of cash for a buyout. So we’re stuck, unless by some miracle he resigns in shame – but that’s not gonna happen. I expect the team will improve a bit next year recordwise and then drop off even more the year after and then his contract won’t be renewed. its a 5 year mistake complements of Jim Phillips. Maybe next time the AD should give out a 4 year contract to minimize the pain if it doesn’t work out. If it does, they can always negotiate an extention.
