Breaking News: Me'co Brown withdraws from NIU

No speculation this time, Me'co Brown is no longer a Huskie, but left on his own accord.

NIU head coach Jerry Kill said in a press release today that Brown has withdrawn from school for personal reasons. The junior back was earlier speculated to have been kicked off the team by Kill, but those reports were unfounded.

Brown was on the team as of Jan. 12 despite missing the International Bowl for family reasons.

In two seasons, Brown gained 1,155 rushing yards on 258 carries , and started14 games  for the Huskies. He was second on the 2009 team with 645 rushing yards on 148 carries and four touchdowns.

More to come on the impact of Brown's departure, filling the void, and any other information that comes available.

I’d prefer Spann to get 90% of the carries this year instead of splitting it with meco…..I think Spann will get a better feel for the game getting more carries. Good luck to Meco!!!!!

Well..

This really sucks for Me’Co and not sure how it will affect our graduation rate stuff, but on the field, I think this benefits us. Not b/c Me’Co was bad at football, I actually think he was a very good third down back, but I don’t think Coach Kill can help himself from using the guy improperly.

If I was sure the right guys (Spann and Jazz interests me too), got the carries, I’d really want Me’Co on the team. Considering I have literally no faith in Kill to do the right thing though, this is the second best option.

You could have at least given me some reference since I reported this two days ago and now it’s “Breaking News.” Check the fan post to the right of this page, "It’s unofficially, Official.

Because

Now it’s officially official. Or whatever. Terrible flub job by niu’s PR tho. We knew this months ago. The drama is unnecessary.

Exactly

We ran with unofficially official before and it turned into a case of open mouth insert foot. Maybe you should tell John Shaly you beat him to the punch too. Though I will caution we shouldn’t assume NIU showed him the door.

Haha

It isn’t a matter of who breaks the news first, that’s irrelevant. Why would I want to start a pissing match against someone I truly admire as a journalist?

I’m not assuming anything, but I find it funny how this whole on-again, off-again thing happened. Just shady all-around. The heads can say whatever they want, but I think we all know what happened here. It’s all over the wall in Red and Black paint.

Sarcasm

I was actually just being a sarcastic a$$ toward BB9, not you, Mike. It really doesn’t matter. But you’re right, there was some writing on the wall. I hope Me’co (or whomever) made the right decision for Me’co and this program in the long run.

Nevertheless...

Good luck Me’co.

Sarcasm (part2)

You can be sarcastic all you want! Fact is I scooped you and HuskieWire two days before NIU decided to release the information. I also find it funny that it was released during a time when the school is at break. Would that be normal (I think not) My original comment was to try and get credit for this website and the job it does in keeping Huskie fans up on the program.

Don’t worry about it though. I will continue to post and more times then not will probably do so with new infomation not just the data dump from work others have done. Also I don’t need to be cautioned, because “NIU showing him the door is exactly what happened.”

I have now unofficially, OFFICIALLY moved on!

Want to be here

Speed, Size, Athleticism…yea I get it. But one key to building a program is getting players who want to be here. This is a great opportunity for somebody to step up.

Let's move on BOYS

Me’co is gone, let’s hope that new additions at RB can make an impact, Chad can’t do it alone….I hope some impact players rise up at WR position….. sure would like to see D. Grady at WR

by BigDHuskie on Mar 13, 2010 10:15 PM CST reply actions

Grady

Unfortunately with Harnish’s status up in the air, Grady is the only one with experience in the offense. I’d like to see him at WR too, and Jordan Lynch a shot a QB, but don’t see it right now. Maybe next year.
