Northern Illinois defeats Eastern Michigan, somehow, to obtain berth in MAC Championship

It was a hard-fought, 18-12 victory for the Huskies.
The defense had one of the best games of the season, forcing EMU to kick two field goals early on. Eastern Michigan was so close to converting touchdowns, one right in the endzone and one when a player was wide open due to a relapse on defense.
The offense was almost non-existent outside Chandler Harnish's 148 yds rushing and 98 yds passing, a touchdown both through the air and on the ground. Blame the early start or the wind, but the playcalling wasn't very productive all game long. Harnish had a couple off-passes.
The offense had their chances early on, but faltered because of penalties (6-50 yds and only converted 2 of 13 on 3rd down, an extremely sub-par number. Credit EMU's defense though, they fought hard through the whole game and hit our players hard.
The Huskies fought hard to get to their second straight MAC Championship, the only game that matters anymore. The offense can't be this unproductive and the team can't start this slow to obtain a victory on Detroit.
A win is a win, however ugly it may be.

We got outplayed
and sneak away with a win….give EMU a lot of credit, they came ready to play.
Gilllett made big plays, unfortunately he had WR drops. I lost count on how many times we dodged a bullet
Thankfully, Gillett didn’t get rid of the ball on 2 plays on their last drive, and took huge sacks.
Harnish was off, their DB’s did a solid job; our DB’s looked lost on some plays
We didn’t finish strong, but I expect better in the MACC
DETROIT
That’s my thought on the game. This win isn’t going to necessarily propel us into top 25 but we are headed to the championship. And i’ve been waiting a long 6 years for this since that Dominik Hixon catch. Go Huskies!

They play like that next week
Oh, not going to be pretty. The play calling was terrible, no way to get around that. How many QB draws are you going to call on 3rd and 8 before realizing it wasn’t going to work. The whole offensive game plan was Jerry Kill like. Bleh, a win is a win but let’s hope indoors they have better play calling than tha.

Another Ugly Win
We got lucky on this one, EMU outplayed us. I have to say, the defense really held their own on this one. I can’t be too upset…we’re going to Detroit! After the first few weeks of the season, I never expected to make it to the MAC Championship. Hopefully the defense can repeat their performance and the offensive play calling will improve and we’ll walk out of there as MAC champions!
Bowl Bids
I’ll take any, but I would so much rather play a Big 10 team in the LCB than Arkansas State in Mobile. But it appears the loser of the MAC Championship will get the LCB because the GoDaddy Bowl gets to pick first. So the conference champion is punished with the worse bowl that’s farther away, and the conference runner up is rewarded with the better bowl that’s closer – madness. Oh well, still want the title, and hopefully a deal can be worked out that puts us in Detroit. There’s a good chance Illinois or Northwestern will be there.
I don’t see us going to Boise again. It will be Mobile or Detroit.
MAC really needs to work it out where Detroit gets the champ every year. I guess the MAC just doesn’t have that kind of leverage.
As a season ticket holder and donor
I’d be pretty pissed if our reward for finally winning the MAC was a second trip to Detroit in 3 weeks.
Anyplace but Detroit for a bowl game.

The last two games for us have not been good. I really wish we were playing well heading into the biggest game of the season.

Can't please everyone
Lets see, our defense sucks, DB’s are lost, LB’s are weak, Dline is mediocre, offense is inconsistent, play calling is horrible, special teams are poor, and the Huskies are MAC West Division Champs; I can’t wait till we get good!
