P.J. Fleck named Northern Illinois Offensive Coordinator

Per FootballScoop.com:

Northern Illinois: We have learned that Rutgers receivers coach PJ Fleck will be the next offensive coordinator at NIU.

After landing one of the best recruiting classes in recent memory, the Huskies return again with some pretty amazing news. P.J. Fleck is one of the all-time greats for the NIU Huskies. He's been around the program during the glory years of the early 2000's and was also an assistant coach from 2007-09. He brings a wealth of experience from his time at Rutgers and excellent recruiting prowess. The hire couldn't have been any better.

You can read more about Fleck as I named him 'Huskie of the Decade' a couple years ago.

Awesome hire.

Quite possibly the best man for the job.

P.J. back in DeKalb

glad to see it….feel that’s a solid move…..and the recruiting class looks pretty good – watched some of video of LB Cotton and QB Hare, they look very promising

looks like Coach Doeren was out there searching for some “beefy” linemen

I hope we stay with the hurry-up offense. That made for some exciting games.

Awesome

I was hoping they’d bring him on board for the OC.

Great reciever and a great pick for O.C.

Everytime I think of PJ Fleck I think of his miraculous drag-the-toe touchdown to send us to overtime in this wonderful August victory:

Well.... maybe not.

Looks like hes not ready for prime time… while I respect that… why did he take the job in the first place?

That's really strange.

Yesterday morning, I was listening to the NIU weekly radio show on The Score and they were interviewing Doreen and talking about how great it was to have Fleck on board.

Must have been a taped interview but from when? Thursday?

And this really disappoints me. Wasn’t he originally in the running for HC or was that just people wishing?

So, do we believe him that he actually felt he was not ready for an OC job?

or did he just accept too quickly before he learned he was offered an NFL gig?

why don't we just

Congratulate the former Huskie player on his new job in the NFL. I hope he becomes a Head Coach in the NFL someday. What a great player he was. I still remember when he made it on the 49ers and started his blog about the whole experience. He’s in the Huskie family let’s not question the timing. Take him at his word.
