Why Coach Kill recruits down south

From fastest to slowest, here are the 40 times for this year's recruits.  In bold are the players from Texas and Florida.  Before this recent influx of speed on this team, the only guys on our team that I could run under a 4.5 were CB Patrick George and WR Nathan Palmer.  The recent additions of DB Kiaree Daniels (FL) and RB Me'co Brown (MS) also follow this trend of mining speed from the south.

Notice that we have Linebackers now that run faster than some Defensive Backs we've had in years past.  OLB Alex Kube converted from Safety and is one of the first cogs in this experiment.  Of course, you want the main portion of your recruiting class close by, but sometimes you just can't find all of the speed that you need within the borders of Illinois or the Midwest.

  • WR Martel Moore - 4.42
  • CB Domnique Ware - 4.43
  • CB Chris Smith - 4.45
  • WR Perez Ashford - 4.47
  • WR Daniel Rodriguez - 4.47
  • LB Jordan Delegal - 4.48
  • WR Anthony Johnson - 4.49
  • RB Antoine Kirkland - 4.49
  • CB Chase Evans - 4.55
  • MLB Devon Butler - 4.62
  • DE Anthony Wells - 4.7

  • P Josh Wilber - 4.8
  • DE Kyle Jenkins - 4.8
  • OT Jared Volk - 5.25
  • OG Charvo Lampton - 5.3
