Northern Illinois dominates the SE Missouri Redhawks 97-73

I don't know exactly what bracket we were busting, but we did manage to win a game yesterday against one of the worst teams in the nation as Southeast Missouri is now 3-25.  As FalconBlog points out, we were one of only a few teams to win their BracketBuster game.  NFABJ even compares our game and other MAC/OVC matchups to a form of punishment to watch.

The Players

C Sean Kowal seems to have found his groove (took a while), as he scored 21 pts and grabbed 13 boards.  I believe he has the tools, but still has to develop his game a little bit and this is a huge boost.

G Jake Anderson was his typical self and scored 18 points.  Mike Dinunno started at PG and had a phenominal game scoring 16 with 5 assists and 6 steals.

Tyler Storm and Sean Smith had decent games, but really shouldn't have turned the ball over 3 times a piece playing the forward position.

The Stats

SEMO only had a couple bench players available as we outscored them 30-7.  Our 3-pointers were hitting like crazy as we shot almost 42% for the game (13 of 31).

Give it up for the best 3-point shooting percentage on the whole team:

Michael Peaster played one minute (really Patton, that's all you could give him?) but was 1 for 1 in his only try.

Overall, I don't exactly know what to take from this game other than it was a much needed road victory and will boost the confidence for this team as there are 4 winnable games left in the MAC West.

We play West leaders Western Michigan and Ball State at home, while we have to travel to EMU and Toledo to end the regular season slate.

The MAC is bad.  Really bad.  Who knows what the future of this team will reveal.  Can we manage to sweep the rest of our games with huge momentum going towards the tourney.  Do I dare say that we have any chance in the MAC Tourney.  We haven't won a game there in ages, so who knows.  Let's have that talk after the regular season.
