Some Wisconsin football fans were more than a little irritated by the poor quality of the telecast of the Northern Illinois at Wisconsin game Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
Those fans had every right to their irritation.
The villain here was not the Big Ten Network, but Time Warner Cable, because the telecast on Charter cable did not have as much trouble and the one on DirecTV had none.
A spokeswoman for the Big Ten Network, Elizabeth Conlisk, said the network had received complaints about the telecast from Time Warner Cable subscribers, many fewer from Charter viewers in Madison and none from DirecTV customers.
Repeatedly, the Time Warner Cable telecast was caught in commercial break and missed live action.
By this count, there were five times the telecast was late getting out of commercial and missed entire plays.
