Northern Illinois confirmed on Tuesday that it will receive a $335,000 payout for traveling to play at Purdue on Saturday.

NIU will have taken home a total of $1.135 million this season for traveling to play two Big Ten Conference schools in Purdue and Wisconsin ($800,000 payout).

Northern Star Online: Purdue's offense and defense broken down

Have you watched any NIU games the past few years?

I already knew what all my friends had said just after Purdue’s heartbreaking 38-36 loss to the Oregon Ducks.

"We totally Purdue’ed that!"

Yes, it is sad that Purdue’ing something has come to have, at least among my friends, two less than desirable definitions. First, let’s define our terms.

Pur-due (per-doo) v. 1. To lose in such a heartbreaking fashion you want to vomit.

Nice prediction by the way:

I feel sorry for Northern Illinois for having to face such a hungry Purdue team. Look for the Boilers to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and run over the Huskies. 45-17 Purdue, and the score will make it look closer than it is.

Got any Red Bull?  NIU @ Illinois is part of ESPN's 24-hour marathon of HOOPS ACTION on November 17:

The next two games are Northern Illinois at Illinois at 8 p.m. ( and Duquesne at Iowa at 9 p.m. (ESPNU). The Dukes are a sleeper in the Atlantic 10 and will be quite a challenge for a Hawkeyes team that has been hit with graduation and defections in the offseason.

Of course we get shoveled off to the online action, but at least we don't get the 4 AM game.

Ball State wants out of the Iowa game next year.  The one that pays them $450,000 more than their game @ Purdue.  Why, I must ask.  Oh and they paid New Hampshire $300K to beat them.  Not good money management in Muncie.
