I know you're riding high on football, right now but there's some sport called basketball (I've never heard of it either) being played vs. Northwestern tomorrow in Dekalb.  I suggest Hustle Belt's NIU Preview and all of you should read my Q&A with NW blog Sippin On Purple.  Am I too harsh on the Huskie ballers?  Nah.

Get to Know Northern Illinois - Pre-Snap Read
If you don’t know N.I.U., it’s about time to get on board. This team is for real: good enough to stand toe-to-toe with countless B.C.S. conference teams from across the nation, the Huskies are the best team in the MAC.

Huskie Wire | Huskies staying grounded after win over Toledo
"It’s easy to pat yourself on the back and go, ‘Boy, we scored 65 points.’ But we’ll find a way in that coaching room that if we were our best, we should’ve scored 80 and defensively we should’ve stopped them more," Kill said.

NIU Alumnus Garrett Wolfe returns to Huskie Stadium - Northern Star Online: Sports
"Its the biggest rivalry in the MAC," Wolfe added. "Coach [Joe] Novak used to always say, ‘The road to the MAC Championship runs through Toledo.' Huskie Wire | Bowl representatives take a look
"We’re a regional game to a certain extent, but we still consider Northern Illinois part of our region. We want to put the best matchup on the field because ultimately that’s going to keep television set people happy. A lot of our fan base from Detroit, as well, they want to see the best matchup. Toledo’s proximity is a lot closer, but that’s not going to really weigh in our decision."

"We're playing football right now and we're not putting too much pressure on ourselves," Harnish said. "We're just taking it one game at a time. Honestly, my coach, Jim Zebrowski, the quarterbacks coach, has done a great job of keeping me relaxed and humble and just going out and playing every game."

Huskie Wire | Rockets dismantled
"It's a tremendous feeling," Spann said. "There's a lot of tradition in this game. It's a big game for both teams for our postseason goals. To be able to come out and have the showing that we did and put up as many points as we did, it really feels good."

NIU football is class of the MAC - Northern Star Online: Sports
This NIU football team has done nothing but win. And don’t get me wrong, 18,742 is not necessarily a "bad" turnout for a Tuesday night game, but AP voters are starting to take notice of this team. What will it take for you to do the same?

NIU football blasts Toledo Rockets - Northern Star Online: News
"I think we’ve always been able to do a good job of [controlling the clock]," said NIU head coach Jerry Kill. "I think the kids are playing with some good confidence right now. We had a good game plan and the kids executed it. I’ve always said that players win games, not coaches."
