Talking Points with Coach Tuke

New, 3 comments

Consider this an open thread for anything Tom Matukewicz says or does.  The man is awesome.  If you saw him during half-time or in the postgame, you are more than excited to have him back on the staff for next year.  Thank you coach for leading our team to victory and showing off how amazingly candid you can be.

Tuke the matchmaker

"He's fought for our freedom," Matukewicz said before asking Coffman, "Are you single? I'm just telling you right now, if you're a lady, you need to get his number because he is a legitimate man and he'll take care of you."

"He meant everything to us," quarterback Chandler Harnish said. "I loved how the team came together, how he rallied the troops."

Matukewicz's reply: "Just for that, you're getting double Chick-fil-A tonight."

On NIU next season: "I'm telling you right now, we better start in the top 25 so if any of you all have a vote, you need to put us in there next year because we've got a lot of guys back."

"You know what I said at halftime to the guys?" Matukewicz said. "I said, 'If you haven't had fun, that's your fault. You can't slap the smile off me.' "

When he walked into the postgame news conference, he told the media, "You all need to get comfortable, because when I get back to DeKalb, I'm no longer the head coach. So I'm going to milk this thing out."

"I feel sorry for Fresno, because they hit the perfect storm," Matukewicz said. "I'm telling you, we would run through those windows right there. That's how bad we wanted this thing, because of how the thing ended and how everybody was talking about how we were going to fracture and Oh No and instead of that, it was like fire to steel."

"I'm going to find out how much gas is in that jet because I'm not going to land it," Matukewicz said. "We're just going to circle around and celebrate."

I'll try and get video up of him talking as soon as I can.  He's the new Robb Akey.  CBS Sports even did a take.  I say he should be permanent spokesperson for the team, a duty that Dave Doeren might have to give up.
