Looking up and down the NIU roster, do you see any proven tight ends outside of Jason Schepler?  There are a million bodies for the position, but Kill is still trying to find athletic guys to fit his system at the TE/H-Back spot.  Rabe is a December grad that will play right away in our offense.  This guy seems like a true playmaker gauging by his fast 40 time and his 19.5 yards per catch last season.  He has 3 years to play two, but probably won't need to redshirt.  I see this staff keep trying to land some of these athletic tight end types throughout the recruiting season.

I'm feeling some weird kinetic energy...

Less than 20 min after posting this, new Huskie beat writer (and recruiting expert) Jeremy Werner posted up an interview with Rabe where we learn he also had an offer from Central Michigan:

"I really like that area," said Rabe, whose family is very active at Ellsworth. "I'm from a small town here in Iowa, and DeKalb reminded me a lot about it. It's also close enough to Chicago."

He's versatile and not afraid of anybody on the defensive side of the ball:

"I really like the middle of the field," said Rabe. "That's where I've had most of my long catches.

"I can outrun linebackers. When I need to I can block tight ends. That's a big part of my game here, stretching the ball downfield because when I can catch the ball that opens up the wide receivers."
