Fanthropology: Win a Bowl Trip for being an NIU fan

New, 3 comments

Hyundai Fanthropology is giving away two tickets to rabid fans.

Mark A. Cunningham

Do you know why Hyundai is awesome? Because they love college football. And they love college football fans.

So much that they're going to send one of you and a companion to the game of your choice with airfare and hotel.

How do you enter? Easy: just do what you do best -- be a fan in the comments. The topic here is simple: why are you -- are we -- such loyal, committed fans? College football fans are the most dedicated and loyal fans there are; tell us a story, and if your comment is the bets one, you'll be selected as a finalist for the contest.

As a finalist, we'll talk about why we're crazy about the Huskies, except we'll take it to the front page. And if our conversation is selected by the judges as their favorite? You're going to whatever game you want. And hopefully using your second ticket on me.

Why am I a huge Huskie fan?

I've been a fan of the Huskies ever since I saw them beat Wake Forest in their first game of the 2002 season. I dreamed about playing football at NIU throughout high school, but could never achieve that dream because of injuries. I fell in love with the school and decided to go there anyways. In 2005, I saw the Huskies play in the Big House against Michigan before I was even enrolled in classes yet. Some of my greatest college experiences have been traveling to road games. In 2007, I got bored in one class one day and started a website about the Huskies, which is what you see today. Despite moving around to the cities of Austin, TX and New Orleans, LA I still cover the Huskies from hundreds of miles away every day. I bleed Cardinal Red and Black.

Your turn.

Let's summarize the rules:

  • Comment below about how big of a diehard Huskie fan you are. (One entry allowed on the network.)
  • I will pick the best story and nominate you as the site's finalist.
  • You and I have a one-on-one conversation about college football and the Huskies. If our dialogue is deemed the greatest, you win the prize. (If you don't want to be a finalist and have a front page conversation that's okay you can still feel free to participate.)
