The MAC Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the week awards for the West division were both awarded to Northern Illinois players for week one.
Jordan Lynch looked like he had something to prove out there completing 25 of 41 for 275 yds and three touchdowns. He also had 56 yds on 22 carries.
What's interesting is that he tied his career highs for completions (vs Toledo last year) and attempts (vs FSU in the Orange Bowl). That seems like way too many attempts both passing and rushing the ball, but I can't complain.
Matthew Sims was Mr. Automatic on Saturday with kicks of 47 and 25 yds. And of course the 36 yarder to put the game out of reach for the Hawkeyes with only 3 seconds remaining. The last game-winning kick for Sims? The 2011 MAC Championship over Ohio.
